My name is Carly and I started this site as a way to organize my recipes and hopefully inspire people to find healthy, plant-based ideas for cooking at home.

I am a mom to 3 boys under the age of 5 (one set of twins) and an online Spanish teacher. During my second pregnancy with my third child, I started to adopt more of a plant-based diet. I had been pescatarian since the age of 15 but decided that I wanted to try to cut out diary and focus more on whole, unprocessed foods. I felt a difference right away and feel like this transition really helped my healthy pregnancy and even more, my post labor healing.

I started an Instagram page called @overorderingin in January 2019 as a way to keep my husband and I accountable to ordering in less and cooking at home more.

My husband and I were ordering in food a lot, especially on the weekends and I was getting so sick of answering the question “What should we order for dinner tonight?”. The options were getting so monotonous and the food really was not good – the plant-based options were slim and the food was filled with so much oil and salt. Plus, it was getting really expensive to order from restaurants all the time.

I was also getting so sick of my kids wanting so many processed and not-so-great-for-you snacks while sitting on the couch and shoveling them in their mouths.

Here’s where @overorderingin comes in. What started as an accountability account turned into so much more for me. I found Instagram to be such a source of inspiration and the more I cooked, the more I wanted to cook. It became this amazing creative outlet to me that I didn’t even realize I was craving. It also allowed me to become part of an amazingly supportive community that I didn’t know existed.

I also found that this has completely transformed the snacks my kids are eating by getting them involved in the kitchen and by offering them a wide array of plant-based options. Although my kids are not vegan or even vegetarian, I definitely consider plant-based foods to be the base of what they consume. I’m not a nutritionist or a dietitian – I just love eating and cooking healthy food and living a plant-based lifestyle.

I decided that it’s now time for me to expand on what I’m doing by starting this blog. I’m excited to develop it and see how it evolves. Please fee free to leave me comments and reach out to me!
